Key PV Concepts Training
The Solar Design Company provides training in some of the key concepts needed to design & size PV systems. This is ideal for those new to PV or as a revision course for those just starting out in system design.
This course is an optional but useful pre-cursor to the core PV*SOL course. It covers:
- Solar geometry.
- Cartesian coordinates, fundamental when calculating relative locations, angles and lengths.
- Weather data & irradiation values.
- The meaning of the terms Isc, Voc, MPP, IV curves.
- Consideration of PV module response to light and temperatures, series/parallel connections.
- Shading and its impact on PV output.
- How inverters work when connected to the grid mains, efficiency characteristics and MPP tracking.
- Frame-mounted systems; area utilization method.
